Farmers Conference on Nutri Garden for Nutrient Security and Strategies for Doubling the Farmers Income

  • Farmers Conference on Nutri Garden for Nutrient Security and Strategies for doubling the farmers’ income was organized at Vellerivelli Village of Edapaddy of Salem District on 20th June 2018. The conference was organized to create awareness about the importance of nutria-garden for nutrient security among the farmers, general public and school children along with strategies for doubling the farmers’ income. Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore released the book on Nutrient Garden for Nutrient Security and delivered the Key Note address during the conference. The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor,TNAU stressed the importance of nutrient security among the farming community and rural villages. The Hon’ble VC also said that the Hon’ble Chief Minister Tamil Nadu has also emphasized the importance of kitchen garden and nutria-garden for farmers to get adequate nutrient for healthy life during one of the important meeting, accordingly the conference was initiated first in Edapaddy by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, TNAU, Coimbatore

  • The Mrs.Rohini Bhajibhakare IAS, District Collector, Salem participated and delivered the chief guest address in the conference. District collector has also emphasized the importance of nutrient security among the farm women and rural areas. District Collector also distributed free nutria-garden seed kit and seedlings to all farmers, general public and children. Director of Extension Education, Dean (Hort), Coimbatore, Special Officer (Seeds), Professor and Head, Department of Vegetables, Coimbatore, Joint Director of Agriculture, Salem, Deputy Director of Horticulture, Salem, District Lead Bank Manager, Chief Educational Officer, Salem NABARD AGM, Executive Engineer (AED), Professor and Head, TCRS, Yethapur, Professor and Head, SRS, Cuddalore, Professor and Head,SRS, Melalathoor, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Salem and Dharmapuri also participated and delivered technical presentation and interacted with farmers.

  • Agriculture Exhibition was organized to showcase the latest agricultural technologies developed by TNAU for the benefit of the farmers of Edapaddy. The programme was organized by the Directorate of Extension Education, TNAU, Coimbatore and Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sandhiyur, Salem. Nearly 1200 farmers were benefitted from the above programme.
